Active Behavior

Overview and Meaning

Active behaviors involve the presence of movement. More broadly speaking, mouse behavior typically occurs in general cycles where one top-level classification of behavior predominates, as follows:
  1. Active Behavior
  2. Maintenance Behavior
  3. General Activity

Behaviors

Active behaviors are a top-level classification of goal-directed behaviors, where the animal is moving, and includes as a first subdivision:

Contexts

Active behaviors are widely subdivided by contexts - initially into  maintenance behaviors and general activity; and then general activity is further subdivided into multiple contexts (see these pages for details).
