Wiping

Overview and Meaning

Wiping is a stereotypy - a repetitive, unvarying behavior lacking apparent goal or function.

Description

A mouse rears against the side of the cage and sways from side to side. While the hind-legs usually remain stationary, the forepaws and head move in an arc from side to side that may reach down to the floor on either side of the body.
