Approach
Overview and Meaning
Approach occurs within exploration, and follows attending to a stimulus of interest. Approach serves to bring the animal within range of the stimulus so that it can be investigated. Once within range the animal may move on to investigate, may return to search or in a social context may flee from an aggressive individual.

Classification
Contexts
Exploration occurs in three main contexts, Social, Food, and Environmental. However, the context is not normally apparent until the investigation stage of the behavior chain.
